This piece is fabricated from sterling and fine silver, copper and brass. The wood-grain pattern on the back imitates the Japanese technique "Mokume Gane" Traditionally the layers of metal are directly fused together. I sweat-soldered each layer. An orange spessartine garnet is set in the banjo's drum.
