First of a line of hybrid 2 finger rings. There is a pin holding the ring together, once removed, the top of the ring comes off and becomes a pendant and the ring can be worn on it's own.
This ring was the most emotionally challenging thing I have ever made. I broke the original main stone (an aqua floater) while finishing the ring up and scoured to find something else to fit. Managed to get a Liddocoatite tourmaline crystal set in the aqua's place hours later and accidentally put leverage on it while setting the emerald and broke it. At this point I pretty much lost it. Left the project alone for days...
Probably added 20 extra hours of work in the end. Making a total of somewhere in the area of 80.

Class project I finished at school. Felt entirely too confined by the required box shape. Went through several designs and eventually changed my mind and did this on impulse. All hexagons were rolled and handcut out of 14k, laser welded and overlayed onto the ring band. 2 flush set emerald cuts and 5 flush set sapphires. wire insert in 18k yellow and silver with and emerald. Rough finish. The poppin' green/orange colors don't come out in this picture, sorry.

Smallest and possibly most intricate double sided gold wrap I've ever seen. See the picture beside the quarter. Spinels are set all the way through the bail and there is one pointing upwards directly on top. The emeralds were set at angles imitating a cluster of crystals...

Measures roughly an inch high and contains 1 tsavorite garnet crystal and 3 sapphire facets. I haven't yet decided where to put the bail (around the very top? where the 2 hallow boxes intersect or just below that?). Also contemplating adding certain textures. something I've been envisioning for a while, decided to take a break form the custom work I've been doing and put this one together. It contains a "Paraiba" tourmaline crystal (NOT original Paraiba from Batalha, but a nearby mine which is producing similar cuprian bearing elbaite), Tanzanite facet, Emerald crystal (Chivor, Colombia), Demantoid Garnet (x3, Turkey). It is made with 22k Red Gold, 18k Yellow gold and Sterling/Fine Silver

First all metalwork piece, it isn't completely finished, needs a little touch up here and there and a final polish but it'll do for now! 17ct (3.4g) natural Tanzanite crystal, Tsavorite Garnet (both from the Merelani Mine, Tanzania), Indicolite Tourmaline(Stak Nala, Pakistan), 1.5mm faceted orange Sapphire (Sri Lanka), 1.5mm faceted Tanzanite (Tanzania).
The 2 facets are the results of my 2nd and 3rd time ever firing up my torch. The 1st time I soldered a simple ring band to test whether or not I had a clue what I was doing. All soldering experiments were done yesterday morning.

just curious, where do you find 34 gauge wire? i've been looking all night and have had no such luck except for silver or gold colored wire, but fuck that.

I have a decent amount of tools and a good space to use them in but there is a lot I have not gotten the money to purchase yet so I am missing a number of important things but I make do.

Depending on how old those watches are they may actually be real ruby movements. I think they've only been using synthetics in watches since the 40s. Rolex may still use real rubies in their really high end models today!

I haven't done a weight analysis as of yet. However, the acquisition of a flawless 1 carat diamond, the 2 x 1/2 carat emeralds, and the fact that the ring has to be prototyped, molded, and 2 shot cast (for the bi-metal) I think $2500 is playing it safe and I may only make $300 by the time that goes through with gold being what it is right now. Especially since my casting bureau will rip me off for the price of metal; they'll cast a piece in sterling silver at $40/oz.
