From Hollywood to Vermont, Italy to Israel, Mike "Gonzo" Gonzales' 100% handmade wire wraps have gotten around. Self-taught, he started wire wrapping about 5 years ago, when he ordered some wire, stones, and a few sets of pliers and began to play. After a few months of coiling and weaving, Gonzo was hooked. Between custom work, running his shop, and the occasional show or festival, wire-wrapping has kept Gonzo very busy, always perfecting his techniques and envisioning new designs. Gonzo's own way of meditating, the energies of the stones combined with the silver and Gonzo's vision create organic, unique, and durable pieces of wearable art and sculpture.

My girl Caroline and I have both always wanted to try maille, so we ordered a bunch of pre-made jumprings and tried some designs. I made the necklace, it is 21" long and extendable. It is a European Roundmaille design. Caroline made the matching bracelet. She also made a Byzantine bracelet and one out of Elfweave. All made from Sterling Silver. Mailler55's work did also inspire both of us! Thanks!*SOLD*

So someone came to me with a wrap that she had for a long time, and wanted more work added to it. I have to ask the owner who originally made the piece, but we now have a collab made! Anyone recognizes the work, let me know so I can give credit! The stones were already set, I just added some weaves, coils, and a new bail on each side, so the piece can be worn two ways. Designed to resemble the eye of a falcon, this symbol, called the Eye of Horus (or Eye of Ra), represents the right eye of the Egyptian Falcon God Horus. As the udjat (or utchat), it represented the sun, and was associated with the Sun God Ra (Re). According to legend, the left eye was torn from Horus by his murderous brother Seth, and magically restored by Thoth, the God of magick. After the restoration, some stories state, Horus made a gift of the eye to Osiris, which allowed this solar deity to rule the underworld. The story of this injury is probably an allusion to the phases of the moon as the eye which is "torn out" every month. The Right eye of Horus represents the Sun, and the left Eye of Horus represents the Moon. The Eye of Horus was believed to have healing and protective power, and it was used as a protective amulet, and as a medical measuring device, using the mathematical proportions of the eye to determine the proportions of ingredients in medical preparations, to prepare medications.
