This piece tells the story of Bimba's Lament, which is a poem about Bimba, thje Buddha's wife. Before Siddartha was enlightened, he and his wife were royalty in India, and he gave her a necklace of gold with rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds. Bimba should have been happy, and on the surface she was. On the inside however, she was very sad and depressed, unfullfilled by wealth and and gifts, and this she kept hidden and unknown to others.
This wrap contains 18k Gold and Fine Silver wrapped Ruby (Burma), Sapphire (Burma), Emerald (Muzo, Columbia), and a Champagne "Sugar Cube" Diamond (Africa).
The backside contains lessor-known stones which are dark to represent Bimba's secret unhappiness. They are Rutile (Brazil), Fire Agate (Arizona?), Uvite (Brazil), and Faceted Sphene (Pakistan).

In Greek mythology, Ovid wrote about Phaethon, who convinced his father Helios, the Sun God, to allow him to drive the chariot of the sun across the sky for a day. He drove too close to the earth, setting it on fire. To save the earth, Zeus struck Phaethon out of the sky with his thunderbolts, plunging him into the sea. His sisters (the Heliades, the daughters of Helios, the Sun), turned into poplar trees on the bank of the Eridanus River,
Where sorrowing they weep into the stream forever. And each tear as it falls shines in the water, a glistening drop of amber.

This wrap was a huge challenge. It is a custom piece that contains Tourmaline, Jasper, and three VERY brittle stones: selenite, Azurite, and Malachite. Wrapping these crystals without breaking them was really tough, but I'm very pleased with how this giant wrap came out. It is about 2" by 4".
